Tim Ferriss - Lifestyle Design and The 4-Hour Workweek

Last Sunday, I asked the collective genius--60,000+ Twitter followers--the following question:

"What is the coolest or oddest experience I can have in SF today?  Any must-do's off the beaten path?"

The answers came in fast and furious, and I was set within minutes.  I ended up with a wonderful sequence:

Traipsing on the living roof of the California Academy of Sciences
Sipping sencha tea at the Golden Gate Japanese tea garden
Relaxing alongside a small buffalo herd on JFK Drive
Dinner at perhaps my favorite restaurant in SF with local and seasonal food: Firefly.

Here are 15 more that kick ass.  The kick-ass Twitter users who suggested them are linked to appropriately:

Great list. My sisters heading over to San Fran in a couple of months, I'll have to remember to send her this post. :-)

I would add an afternoon or evening at the Kabuki baths, or Osento if you are a woman..Kabuki has alternating gender nights so call first...

Zuni Cafe for a fine dining experience - though I've been gone for a while - assuming it's still open.

If you do go to the Sutro Baths site - take the toward the Golden Gate Bridge - a short hike...but well worth the views.

You've pretty much made me very homesick! :D

Zeitgeist? Reminds me of this review on Yelp:

So tempted to give this a one star review to try to keep all the lousy hipster dudes out, but then I remembered that the Eagle has its own natural defense that other contenders for best outdoor beer patio lacked (sorry Zeitgeist, truly I am) ...and that is: BIG BEARDED GAY BEARS ALMOST LITERALLY CRAWLING OUT OF THE WOODWORK. Seriously, hipsters, don't even bother. It's going to be hard putting the Chrome bag and ironic t-shirt to work scoring your indie chicks when you can't walk 5 feet at the Eagle without a penis with what looks like a Hell's Angel from Alabama attached to the other end of it practically falling into your mouth. There are mirrors on the urinal positioned so your neighbors can check out your dangling sea otter! Stay away, it's better for everyone involved. Best legal venue in the city to see the Extra Action Marching Band.

Funny, I initially thought of three or four of these but I figured Tim was already more seasoned in SF! I shared a suggestion for the NYC gym as a result. :)

in SF you could also go to the _real_ windiest street which is out in Potero at 24th and Vermont iirc. Look on google maps - it makes Lombard look bad.

I drive by the buffalo every time I visit SF & have downtime--something totally transporting about it. Also just the smell of the eucalyptus in GG Park is intoxicating, coming from NYC.

Not in downtown SF but the other thing we tend to do over the course of a week is an Alice Waters fast food tour in the East Bay--her burrito place on San Pablo, the tapas place, the amazing little bakery, the ice cream. Fast, cheap, delicious, a ritual.

And my latest favorite thing in the Bay Area is the Four Seasons @ Half Moon Bay. You can just get a drink & watch the sun set & there are bonfires and WASPs, could not be more entertaining. Any bad mood or exhaustion gets erased by the sea air, the view, the martini.

the st george distillery which produce Hanagar One Vodka is kickass.
sample a half dozen handcrafted vodkas in an eerie military hangar while watching the sun set over the water and the SF skyline.

only downside. can't buy the firewater there!
